Clarke ButteFebruary 22, 1976The group assembled at 8:00 a.m. at South Eugene Parking lot, and left town in one car. It was quite foggy when we started but the fog started to thin the farther we went, we arrived at Clarke Creek parking area at 9:00 a.m. with the Sun shining nice and bright. We put on our boots and started up the trail, it was a lovely day. There was a wren singing like it was ‘fit to bust’, we walked steadily and made good time, by 10:40 we were at the view point on Clarke Butte. We had lunch and, leaving our packs behind went a mile or so farther on the trail to Road 1806, a road to Little Cowhorn Mt. Soon we turned back over the ridge, picked up our packs and started back down the trail. Around 2:00 p.m. we arrived at the car and started back to town. It was a beautiful day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Those on the trip were, Gladys Grancorvitz, Lee Hatch, Sue Reimer, Helen Smith, and Merle Traudt (leader). |
