Mt. Thielsen

June 19-20, 1976

We started climb from Mt. Thielsen Trail parking lot at South end of Diamond Lake at 7 a.m. After about one mile we were on 4 to 5 ft. of snow which lasted till we were well up the scree slope on the west side of mountain. We reached summit at noon, after a slow, easy climb. Back to cars at 5 p.m. just about hour before lightning and rain began. Reaching summit for third time, Brian Hatch (age 11), Wayne Hatch (age 13), and Dad (old), Chuck Haddad (2nd time), Jeanne Thurman and Jean Hisey from Portland (first time). Lee Hatch, leader.
