Mt. Hood

May 16, 1976

Twenty people climbed Mt. Hood on 16 May ’76 on a sunny, but cool and windy day. Regular route.

We started at just the right time to be at the chute after the 85 Mazamas had gotten out of the way. Only stayed on the summit a few minutes. Very windy. Went back to the saddle in the crater for lunch. Watched a group of skiers whiz down off the west crest, into the crater, up over the saddle and down the mountain. Fast trip! We arrived at Timberline Lodge just as the clouds and drizzle came.

The twenty climbers were: Jim Anderson, Jamie Chuman, Ted Chuman, Mitch Daletas, Steve Daletas, Brian Hatch, Lee Hatch, Mervin Hisel, Glenn Meares, Bobby Moffitt, John Moffitt, Mary Ann Moffitt, Mike Moffitt, Robert Moffitt, David O'Conner, Don Payne, Gus Renwick, Thomas Rhodes, Richard Steffensen, and leader Dick Moffitt.
