Pioneer GulchFebruary 9, 1975Eight people, in two cars, drove to Hills Creek Dam junction, then followed Road No. 211 to the end of the plowed road, just past Indigo Springs campground. From there we followed Road No. 2381 to where the snow was deep enough for skiing and snowshoeing. Five skiers and three snowshoers made it to the Pioneer Gulch trailhead, our basic destination, before noon. After a leisurely lunch, that started out in sunshine, we headed downhill as the clouds moved in. The moderate grade, downhill, was a delight to the novice skiers. After the pleasant, rather short trip down to the cars, we headed for home about 2:00 p.m. and we arrived in Eugene at 4:05 p.m. Non-members along were, Elaine Barnes, Paul Foshay, Bev Juilfs, and Jim Werner. Members were, Mary Bridgeman, Helen Smith, Merle Traudt, and Wes Prouty, the leader. |
