Fawn LakeJanuary 18, 1975After being unable to find Fawn Lake on a scouting trip, I decided to lead a ski trip into Pengra Pass. When we arrived at the trailhead for Pengra Pass we discovered that the road in had been cleared for about a mile. Carrying our skis for a mile long hike didn’t appeal to us much so we went across the road and went into Gold Lake and out on the Waldo Lake road. The snow conditions weren’t ideal for skiing—crusty snow which turned mushy later on. The bad snow conditions were more than compensated for by the unbelievably beautiful, warm day. On the trip were: Merle Traudt, Mark Loewen, Anita Smith, Dorothy Turner, Sam Miller, and the leader, Dorothy Hayes. |
