Olallie Guard Station

October 5, 1975

The day was threatening to rain during our hike along the Olallie trail. The mushrooms were out 1n full bloom and different trees and shrubs were identified by the Forest Service District Ranger, Bob Burns, from Blue River. Arriving at the Guard station at about 11:30 a.m., we ate our lunches over coffee and cookies prepared by Mary Bridgeman and Helen Smith who had stayed the weekend. Upon looking the place over and signing the log book, we were on our way. Half the group went an extra three miles to see the Olallie lookout station and were given a short lecture by the leader about the use of lookouts, the equipment they used and the future plans to fix up the Olallie lookout station. We arrived back at the cars at 5 p.m. with the other half of the group about an hour ahead. Those enjoying the day were, Bob Burns, John Cecil, Pete Cecil, the leader, Irene Flynn, Esther George, Bette Hack, Jane Hilt, Teresa Nutt, Bob Walden, and Helen Weiser.
