Matthieu Lakes—South of McKenzie Pass

September is becoming one of our best climbing and hiking months and this Saturday helped to substantiate this fact. The Large group of 20 hikers was divided at trail head. Sam Miller led the speedy ones to the South Lake, over the new, higher trail, and then swung down to join the rest of the party at North Matthieu for lunch and conversation. Thank you Sam for your assistance. The short two mile hike into North Matthieu Lake is ideal for the younger set. We had five along on this trip. Side trips were also made to the observatory and Hand Lake.
