Shotgun Creek Bike Trip
May 18, 1975
8:30 a.m. Three Obsidians left Springfield Mall Parking lot.
9:15 a.m. Arrived Mohawk Cabinet shop for a rest stop.
9:30 a.m. Viewed bulls, llamas, geese, ducks, chickens at various
points of interest.
10:30 a.m. Arrived Marcola—trace of rain—put on raingear at
picnic area next to River.
11:00 a.m. Arrived rest stop at Earnest Covered Bridge—no rain.
11:15 a.m. Turned onto Shotgun Creek Rd. viewed cherry picker preparing
bins for removal at refuse disposal site. Worked our way past a maze of
motorcycle/trailbike maniacs doing their thing.
11:30 a.m. Rode past new, unfinished, B.L.M. campground.
12 noon Stopped for lunch on banks of Shotgun Creek.
12:50 p.m. Started return trip through motorcycle maniac area to Marcola
via same route—then via Hill road to Hayden Bridge.
3:30 p.m. Arrived Springfield Mall (35 miles round trip):
