Glide Wildflower Show

April 26, 1975

Nobody signed up, only one came to the starting place at the starting time. We chose the time so that we could stop along the road on the way at plant sites, and then arrive at the show before the crowd got there. It worked. The show was wonderful, as usual, with some old favorites missing and some different ones new to us. Weather has delayed wildflowers about two weeks this year.

We went to the Reggie Miller Memorial nature trail site for lunch and returned to the show to meet some 18 members of the American Rock Garden Society (12 of whom are also members of the American Penstemon Society which promptly held an impromptu meeting in the center of the crowded exhibit hall). We took seven of the ARGS-APS people up Little River to the Rock Garden at Wolf Creek and the Indian Pink locations along the road, since most of them came from Seattle they had not seen our Oregon flowers growing wild before, and were delighted.

The travelers were: Helen Kimmel, Ken Lodewick and Robin Lodewick (leaders).
