Oregon Coast Hike

April 19, 1975

We left Eugene at 8:00 a.m. and got to Yachats about 10:30 a.m., where we left all but the drivers at a restaurant while we took the cars eight miles to Waldport. We got back to Yachats and started hiking at 11:00 a.m. The first mile or so is over logs, large rocks, and tide pools. It just happened to be a very low tide and we spent considerable time viewing the many star fish and sea anemones much farther out on the rocks than is usually possible. The weather was mostly sunny but there was a strong cold wind. We finished the hike at Waldport at 4:00 p.m. and got back to Eugene about 7:45 p.m. after a couple of side trips and another short hike by the leader’s children. Those on this trip were: Esther George, Mary Bridgeman, Lee, Wayne and Brian Hatch, Dorothy Hayes, Clarence Johnson, Parker Riddle, and Teresa Nutt. Lee Hatch was the leader.
