North SisterSeptember 6, 1975We left Eugene around 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening, and arrived at Pole Creek trail head at 9:30 p.m. We then hiked to Soap Creek where we made our camp. I woke up at 6:00 a.m. and then got everybody else up and made breakfast. Started up the trail at 6:50 a.m., got to the saddle at 11:30 a.m. and had our first lunch. West up the ridge, crossed the dinner plate, and went up the chute and on top. I got on top at l:55 p.m. The chute did present a few problems because there were some unexpected obstacles such as a few patches of ice left from the snow storm a week earlier. I then let everybody rest for an hour on top, and then headed down at 3:00 p.m. I went down the same way I came up and arrived back at camp at 8:00 p.m. Those on the trip were Bob and Jeff Fletcher, Tim Lundgren, Kevin McManigal, leader, and Barbara Michel. |
