Mt. McLoughlinAugust 2, 1975This climb was, for the most part, uneventful. We left camp at 8:00 a.m. Saturday and all climbers were on the summit by noon. The day was quite hazy, though we could see the snow-white crown of Shasta to the South and Thielsen to the North. A few amateur painters have been at work on some of the summit rocks; these needless efforts will never make the Louvre, unfortunately they will have to stay on McLoughlin ’til weathered off. Also, I noticed a telephone wire trailing down from the summit lookout, now defunct, which should have been removed when the lookout was de-commissioned. All climbers were down by 3:00 and on their way home at various times. Glenn Meares completed his 10th peak effort; congratulations Glenn. Making the climb were Parker Allen, Ken Ball, Chuck Haddad, John Hribernick, Cindy Meares, Glenn Meares, Rick Peterson, Arran Riddle, Kevin Riddle, & leader Parker Riddle. |
