North Sister
Hayden Glacier
July 25-26, 1975
The five of us left Walterville at l:30 p.m. Friday.
Drove to Pole Creek and hiked in 3½ miles.
Made camp and up at 3:00 a.m.
We did not need flash lights, the moon was so bright.
We climbed up Hayden Glacier to the saddle, not a soul in sight.
We had a good climb on the North, warm but not too hot.
Still no one on the North but us.
Clarence Landes did not climb the North Sister, he went up the Middle
instead: “To saddle 9:15/ started to M.S. 10 a.m./ top 11:25/ left top
M.S. 12:35/ saddle at 1:15/ going over to see your route about 1:45, I saw
some people on the traverse, so decided to wait.
Just now saw you sliding onto Collier, so I’d better get going if
I am to be in camp soon enough.
Starting to camp 4:10.”
Climbers:
Al Gamache,
Theresa Gamache,
Jack Nitzel,
and leader
Don Payne.
Clarence Landes—Middle Sister only.
