North Cascades Bus TourJune 23-25, 1975As usual Ray Cavagnaro helped load us on the bus and Joe Silence went along to charm and keep us in line. At Salem we picked up Bob Krebs, another tour guide, then our next stop was Multnomah Falls. It was picnic weather at Celilo where we had our lunch stop. Passed through the prolific Washington fruit country to the Bavarian type village of Leavenworth. There the Glockenspiel was charming though we didn’t hear it spiel. Tuesday morning we stopped to take pictures at Ohme Gardens. On to Sun Mountain Lodge with a panoramic view of the Methow Valley for a buffet lunch. Fine weather to Liberty Bell Mountain, then rain all through the western slope of the Cascades. But the waterfalls, some of them spectacular, kept everyone craning their necks. Stopped at Newhalem, a neat pretty little town, the start of the Skagit project. At scenic Deception pass the tide was going out Wednesday morning. At the historic town of Coupville, on Whidbey Island, they don’t get up till noon but they did open two stores for us. Arrived back in Eugene promptly at 9 p.m. Enjoying this trip were: Muriel Aufderheide, Lois Baker, Margaret Barnard, Alice Bissell, Margaret Block, Ingrid Carmichael, Marie Carstenson, Ella Carrick, Grace & M.
