Mt. David DouglasSeptember 13, 1973Elevation 6255, is reached by driving up the Willamette above Oakridge, then turning off on the Eagle Creek road and driving to the trailhead. The trail does not go to the top of the mountain. Hikers have to leave the trail and travel cross country, climbing all the time to reach the top. It has a rocky top and provides an interesting rock climb to reach the final top. It was a beautiful day for us this year and we enjoyed basking in the sunshine at lunchtime. After enjoying the view we worked our way back down to the trail and car. Along with the leader, Helen Smith were Mary Bridgeman, Karen & Melba Eckhoff, Merle Traudt and Paula Vehrs. |
