Shower
Wednesday, Sept. 6, nearly forty Obsidians gathered behind the Butte for a picnic dinner. Blanche Osburn and Gerald Johnson were both present and spoke a few words. Blanche told a bit about her work with the Army. She flies a B-17, sometimes carrying the practising gunners, sometimes towing the target at which they shoot. She is being transferred from Florida to Nevada. Gerald, whose wife by the way doesn’t look a bit like her sister Jane, expressed pleasure at being with us. He will leave soon for the Pacific area.
Later in the evening the group surprised the newly married Tysons with a shower. Everyone enjoyed looking at the pretty things.
The engagement of Doris Mae Tupper and Clarence Skillern was announced when Clarence was home on furlough recently. The wedding date has not been set yet. Clarence has been stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
